Hmm .. upon deactivation AO will try to purge it’s own cache and I suppose that process timed out. Try removing wp-content/cache/autoptimize
and disable then.
Alternatively you could simply remove the wp-content/plugins/autoptimize
-folder and WordPress will remove it from the list of plugins.
hope this helps,
frank
Hi
thanks for your quick reply.
I tried the first option, but it did the same. I removed cache folder (actually there were cache and cache1, I removed both) and then I tried to deactivate Autoptimize but nothing happened.
So I did the second option. I deleted the entire folder. it worked fine, but now in the admin area there’s a warning message: “plugin autoptimize/autoptimize.php has been deactivated due to an error: the plugin file doesn’t exist”. I cannot remove that message.
Thanks again

that’s _very_ weird, but well ..
now in the admin area there’s a warning message: “plugin autoptimize/autoptimize.php has been deactivated due to an error: the plugin file doesn’t exist”. I cannot remove that message.
that’s normal, but it should go away auto-magically actually.
Thank you very much. This useful support for a free plugin is much appreciated. Five stars well deserved.
Thanks again.
