  • Resolved zirko

First of all thank you very much for Yet Another Related Posts Plugin!

I use version 4 Yet Another Related Posts Plugin and I can not customize the size of the thumbnails. They are always square and therefore it distorts my images.

How do I set it to settle in 197×118?

I saw you speak of “patterns personalization” but I do not understand how to implement and how to fix everything.

Thank you very much for your help.

  • @brettbum where that division lies should be controlled completely by CSS. If you post a link I could take a look.

@arka1 it doesn’t look like you’re using the new thumbnail feature… or if you are, maybe the styles-thumbnails.php CSS is not getting loaded?

Hem… I am not sure I follow what you are saying (but that’s just me:) )
The file yarpp-template-thumbnail.php is there (just checked), but whether it is being called, I know not.
I am certainly using 4.0.1b1 (just checked)

    Any advice?

@arka1 sorry it’s confusing. In the YARPP settings, you want to make sure the big thumbnails button is pressed, if you want to try the new thumbnails feature.

If that’s still looking weird, please let me know.

I may be daft, but I am not that daft :D:D
I had pressed the thumbnail button (although now I am on text only) 🙂

@arka1 sorry, I didn’t mean to insult you. There’s a custom template also called “thumbnails” from the pre-YARPP 4 system, so I was afraid you were using that.

If you don’t mind, could you turn on that thumbnail view again and send a link so I can take a look at what code is being output?

    No worrye mitcho, just jocking.

Here is a link to my latest post:
Let me know when you are done, so I can switch it back off.

    Arka1, hi!

Looks like the CSS from YARPP is not loading in your theme…..that’s why looks so bad.

    Did you disable it?

    Hi raonip,

I most certainly have not:) (if anything I would not know how to do it 😀 )

One issue could be the commenting system… I have read somewhere that for example Disqus can play tricks with some plugins, but I am not aware of Livefyre doing the same.

Yup, the CSS is not loading. @arka1, you can turn it off now. Thanks.

The URL is returning an error. That’s how the styling is served. Do you know if you have some restriction against serving PHP from wp-content? (This is not normally the case, so if you didn’t set something up, probably not.) I doubt it’s a PHP error, given that the same file is working for everyone else. :/

No, I don’t know (and I certainly didn’t do it…) Can you tell me of another example where such procedure would be used so I can try it out?

@arka1 are you trying the beta or version 4.0? You might want to reinstall the YARPP files… it’s possible that that file got corrupted or something and that’s why it won’t run.

Alas I have tried both 4.0 and the beta version installing them from scratch, but no difference.
In 4.0 the images are huge, in the beta version… you have seen for yourself.

So if it works for everybody else the problem must be with me. What a shame:(

@arka1 really sorry to hear that. last resort: if you know where your server stores an error log for PHP, there may be some log entries about what’s wrong with that file.

EVERYONE ELSE: I’ve spoken with my friend Alex who is the author of the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, and I’ve decided that for performance reasons I will release 4.0.1 *without* the automatic generation of appropriate-sized thumbnails. The code is still in there, however, and can be turned on adding code like

    add_action( ‘init’, function() { yarpp_set_option( ‘generate_thumbnails’, true ); } );

in your theme. I hope that works for you. Here’s the latest beta:

Please let me know about any feedback. Thank you!

    Hi all,

I just released 4.0.1, and changed the way you specify that you want thumbnails generated on the fly. Instead of the yarpp_set_option code I mentioned above, simply add define('YARPP_GENERATE_THUMBNAILS', true); to your theme.

    More info in the FAQ.
