How to customize my sidebar

my sidebar looks to empty and dull so i added new css with background images and i also edited the siderbar.php file. I had tested the feel i want on normal html file and it worked but on my wordpress, it doesnt work.

Did you check if the path to your background image in your css file is correct?
yes i did. It is the same image i used to create an external html file
it doesnt work
What doesn’t work, the background images of your sidebar?
Can you post us a screenshot of ‘it working’ on your normal html file?

The HTML and the WordPress website you provided both work.
I cannot replicate your problem.
The HTML works fine showing the ribbon and the background color for each box. The marquee(The scrolling text works ) and on the gallery, the images are shown. But this things i mentioned doesnt appear on my website.My website only show the ribbon.
