I would like to customize the template used when creating a new post. Just want to lock in a couple of headings, etc.

how would I go about doing this? I have created a child theme and started with a style.css but not sure how to change the post page.

Hello,

I do not understand “creating a new post”. The theme does not have any such functionality for creating posts from frontend. If you are talking about forums or topics or replies for bbPress, then you need edit the templates inside the bbpress directory.

I’ll try to explain a little better.

When I’m in the dashboard and I click on “posts” then “new”, this is the template I’d like to change.

That is not theme territory. That is a part of WordPress core. Please seek in other forums.
