I would like to create a nav menu item with Job Category. In the settings I have enabled Job Categories and added one job category. But the same job category is not loading in the Menu section.

Please let me know how to do it and also let me know what would be the url structure.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi. I am using GeneratePress Theme.
I can see Job Category under Job listings. I have added a category.
While adding in the menu. I can’t see the category which i added in the category menu.
Under Add Menu Items. I can see only..
Pages, Posts, Custom Links, Categories, Tags, Categories.
I have selected all the options in Screen Options but no luck. I am unable to see Job Categories & Job Listings.
I have also tried to switch theme to twenty twenty. but no luck.

    Hi @rajkumarsmonline ,

I played around with this a bit, and it’s not possible to create a menu item from WPJM job categories by default – they’re not hooked into the general WordPress menu interface.

However, if you check out the file WP-Job-Manager/includes/class-wp-job-manager-post-types.php on line 369, there’s an entry for show_in_nav_menus. That’s set to false. Set it to true. That should enable Job Categories to appear as a screen option in Appearance-Menus.

That said, before making changes to core files, I’d strongly recommend backing up your site, before making the change. 🙂

    Best,

    Hi @cena,

I have tried that. But didn’t find any change.

No menu options under the ‘Category’ menu option. (Appearance – Menu – Category).. Actually there are two categories in the menu list. In the first category. General Post categories are displaying. In the second category option, nothing is displaying.

Note: I have also created ‘Job Category’ under ‘WP Job Manager – Settings – Job Category’

    Thanks,

    Hi Rajkumar,

I talked to a developer about this and these were his recommendations:

For the job category to be viewable the theme needs to support the job-manager-templates feature. The user should probably check the recommended job manager themes for this feature:
    https://wpjobmanager.com/product-category/themes/ (edited)

A kind of similar approach would be to use custom links to redirect to the jobs page with an added argument of ?search_category=<the category> . This would redirect the user to the jobs page and only the jobs for the specific directory would be displayed.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
    Cena
