    hi everyone,

Recently i have twentyfourteen theme in my theme directory. Since I deleted the customizr-child which not properly working, the theme changed to twentythirteen without my activating it.

Any way, I have to use it without any choice. Do I have any other choice. In my dashboard there is Customizr theme which I installed before the problem happened.

according to my hosting, my twentyfourteen theme have been corrupted. They can’t do any help unless I have a child theme which I don’t yet created.

    please give a hand.

  • Do I have any other choice.

You can install any theme from the WordPress Repository.

You can install another theme, like Twenty Thirteen, then delete the TwentyFourteen files, then re-install Twenty Fourteen.

If you still need to create a child theme, you can find the instructions here.

    Hi CrouchinBruin,

How do I go about deleting the twentyfourteen file via cpanel>File Manager>root>file directory to double check with you.

    good advice please.

This method is near to create a child theme but not 100% right.

Please don’t make me confuse since I’m still new on this things.

Log in to your WordPress dashboard and select Appearance->Themes and you can add, delete, search for new, select the active theme and so forth.

The only time you need to do anything from the file manager is when you want to add a child theme.

    Thanks Robinln Texas

That’s the fastest way and secure. My concern is where should I create the child theme in hosting directory.

where should I create the child theme in hosting directory.

This is where you will need your hosting provider’s control panel. You want to create the directory under /wp-content/themes. You can give it any name, but to make it easier to remember, most people just add “-child” to the end, like:
    /wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen-child.
After you do a re-install of Twenty Fourteen in its normal directory (twentyfourteen), then you would create your own style.css file in your child theme directory, following the instructions in the link that I gave in my previous post.
