How to create category pages with logical names

  • I created pages and categories. But for some reason, my posts are not showing up in the pages I created for them. They can be seen in the Home / Archives / XXXX pages, but I’m missing something, perhaps with regard to how to link posts to pages or pages to archives or ????

I can bring each menu item from a category, but I don’t have a page heading that looks like this one http://provisionhouse.org/paul/?page_id=774 (Events-a static page). And, instead of something like http://provisionhouse.org/paul/addiction, I have http://provisionhouse.org/paul/?cat=32.

Sorry, but I’m lost on this one and can’t seem to find a tutorial on wordpress or anywhere to help. My wordpress blog is a subdomain of provisionhouse.org.

    I’m confused!

You need to set up your Permalinks.

In your dashboard, go to Settings -> Permalinks and choose something suitable.

More details in the Codex here:

Okay. Thx. The post name option solves this.

But what about that annoying /category/ between the site address and the page? I need categories, but would prefer they not be part of the url.

Is there a way to do this?

    Thx, again.
