How to create a wookmark/ pinterest style post overview

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me create a post overview similar to those found on pinterest or wookmark.

I would really like to have a gallery type overview showing only images which then lead to the post articles.

Something similar to this… http://www.adamalex.com/journal/

I have started by creating a custom page template, but am not sure how I get the following information to loop through all the posts so I generate some code similar to below:
