How to create a text box in a secure way?

    I am a beginner, so maybe my question is simple. How to create an input message box? I don’t want it to be a setting because the input will not be saved on the website database, it will be sent to an external website via API. Do I need to make in the “old way” using no WordPress functions? If so, what is the best way to sanitize my data?
