How to create a product variation which include digital download?

Hi Chris!

I am trying to set up a product which is a magazine and want to include a variation of a digital download. I am not sure how to do this as I do not see an option for it. (as seen here)

This is the expected behavior. When you change the product type to “Variable”, you will only be able to select whether the item is downloadable/virtual at the variation level:

Thus, you’ll want to go ahead and first set up your variations and then check the downloadable box as you’d prefer.

If i create a variable product and create a custom attribute for 1. digital 2. physical, they both require shipping in the cart section.

Normally, only virtual products won’t trigger the shipping calculator. Thus, I’d recommend checking the virtual box if no shipping will be required.
