How to create a gallery without a plug-in?

    The template image.php is available, but if you select “Open on attachment page” the picture opens by link site.com/..date../my-image.jpg#main

    I would like the picture to open on the template page, rather than a separate tab without the site template.

    Hi there, can I have a link to the site if it is live so that I can take a look? If you have the Jetpack plugin installed on your site, galleries should open in a carousel overlay on the page with the gallery on it.

    The Jetpack plugin is not installed. I would like to without a plug-in.

    You would have to create a Child Theme and then write the necessary php and javascript code and add that to the appropriate theme files. That is the only way I know of to do what you are asking. It would be a good bit of work and require a good working knowledge of php and javascript to do such a thing.
