• Hi all
I have a new site under construction and I only have a bunch of images uploaded in the Media library (though no posts, no activity with published images yet).
Since I want to place a grid in home page, ProPhoto is asking me to select the source from where the images for the grid will come from within this list:
    – recent posts
    – recent posts from category
    – galleries
    – categories
    – select posts/pages
    – custom
As I said, I don’t have any post nor page published yet so I can’t choose them as sources.
    Similarly, no categories.
Only source could be Galleries, as I thought that could mean the WordPress Media library.
But if I pick Galleries as image source for the grid, I am then asked to specify the Gallery name, which I don’t have in my WP at the moment (images are simply uploaded in Media library).
I therefore assumed I have to create a new gallery in ProPhoto, but despite my efforts I couldn’t find any explanation within PP tutorials section on how to achieve this goal.
Any PP user who knows how to???

When creating a new post (or editing an existing one) you can click on the [ProPhoto] button above the visual editor. Then select [New Gallery] and in the popup you can select images from you media library or upload new ones. After selecting images (and setting properties) click the [Insert] button and you will have a gallery inserted into your post.

If you want to create a grid, that can have different sources. A common use case is to show recent posts.

See this tutorial for the various options: http://www.prophoto.com/support/grids/

    Hi BLP
    Thanks for your help!
As I said I don’t have yet any post and/or page published, and I am not going to have posts even in the future because it’s going to be a static website rather than a photoblog.
Given that, I had a look at the Grid tutorial you addressed me and it looks like the easier way to have images in a grid for me would be to import them through the Custom Grid mode.
Though It’s a bit weird that having already images in the WP Media library I can’t use them for a Prophoto grid….

Don’t forget that ProPhoto tech support is free, so try contacting us instead of looking for help on the WordPress forums – we’re in the office each workday:

Also, avoid using Grids to show off photos – they’re really created to help you link to other content. If you need to link to a Page or Post that isn’t supposed to be public yet, either setup your site to run hidden…

…or publish your post/page as “Private” in WordPress so that it can’t be seen anyone unless they’re logged in – then you can select your post/page in the Grid customization popup.

If you’re just trying to create a Grid of photos you’ve uploaded, try using the Lightbox Gallery instead:

You can even hide the first ‘large’ image so only thumbnails are seen – just like a Grid, but for photos you’ve uploaded, not pointing off to other pages/posts. 🙂
