How to create a filter menu in WordPress

Hi everyone, I have a resources page and would like to filter the content on that page based on categories. So for example a dropdown menu or a box menu would give you a option on what category to view and the rest would be hidden.

Does anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this with WordPress?
