  • Can someone please explain how to assign a page the attribute of being a “child” of another page?

The explanation on the WordPress site seems to refer the old layout of WordPress, which is different than how things are with the current version.

    Thanks very much!

  • Hi,

When you create the page, in the right sidebar there will a drop down menu from where you can select the parent page or main page. If you select any parent page then this new page will become a child of that page.

I’m having the same problem and based on the number of other posts this is not such as simple task.

I’m able to assign a page as a child and they show up as indented “childs” in the list of pages but upon viewing the site the childs are nowhere to be seen – only the parent pages. I’m new to WordPress but otherwise capable. There are references to having to “list” pages in order to finalise the child/parent relationships is that what I’m missing out on? Is there a widget I should install… How do I “list” the pages

But what if the child page is not showing up? Here is my site look up to the top. You will see links now when you click it it comes up blank none of the children pages will show up. but if you look down to the right where I have the pages widget they are showing up why is this? I would like if they clicked the link up top that it takes them to the individual child pages too.
