How to copy events to new site?

I’d like to transfer events from an existing site to a new one and have tried using Tools>Export/Import but the the event date/times get lost, ie. in the Events list page the fields in the “Event date/time” column are blank and when opening an individual event the dates are wrong and the times are something random like 9:07 when it should be 10:30.
Any suggestions?
