how to control width of Like Button in widget area

hi,

i use the Like Button in the widget area of my site and i set the width to 145 px. but the area is uses is still 225 px – how can i fix this? (because now also the profile pics of ppl who liked the site show up and run into my content are – looks really bad!!! and if i deselect this option, they still show up 🙁 )
seems to me the changes i make don’t get saved… anybody have an idea how to solve this problem?
