So, I have a mobile news site running on WordPress, and I want to create a catalog of all recent mobile devices by popular manufacturers. I need some directions from you guys on how to approach this, though.
The catalog will have devices categorized by type (smartphone or tablet), manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, HTC, etc.), year of production, and by operating system (Android, iOS, BlackBerry). I think adding custom post types with custom taxonomies would be perfect.
Now, inside each device page will offer device specs and features like screen size, battery life, etc. To make it easy for the editors to add content, I think I’m going for custom fields inside each post — and I’ll probably use ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) to add them.
Question is: Am I on the right path? Is there any framework or theme that I can use as parent to code this catalog of mine?
And here’s the part that really troubles me. I want to be able to add affiliate links to each device page. Amazon, BestBuy, and others. Is there a plugin or way to add such links in bulks, instead of manually editing each and every single device page?
Thanks for your feedback!
