Support » Fixing WordPress » How to "clone" a site easily, with all the same custom settings

  • joeyjamz

    Hey guys

I create wordpress websites for local businesses.

All of them are using the Twenty Eleven theme with Sidebar, and then I just create a custom header and custom content/videos for each site. But the layout and structure of the site is exactly the same for all my clients.

My problem is, every time I create a new one, I have to pay my web design guy $40 to make customizations to the theme. There are about 10 things I change including:

    Removing header text
    Changing links in the footer
Removing the text above posts that says “posted by admin… etc”
Putting the page links in the top navigation menu in a certain order

And there are a few more, but my design guy usually just edits the code and makes those changes for me.

I’m trying to find a way that I can easily just duplicate a wordpress site with all of it’s custom settings and changes. That way I can avoid having to pay him $40 for every site I make.

I’ve seen plugins like WP Clone, but whenever I’ve tried to use them I always get confused and I fear messing up the website that I’m trying to clone.

Does anyone have a simple, easy way to duplicate sites like that and keep all those custom changes? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
