how to clear off canvas filter?

I’ve added the woocommerce Product Categories widget to the Off Canvas Filter and it correctly shows my list of product categories on shop home page. However once the user selects a filter I see no way to remove the filter and view all the products again.

I tried adding the “active product filters” widget to the same Off Canvas Filter, thinking perhaps it would allow a user to see and remove active filters, but it does nothing. in fact it doesnt even appear in the DOM when inspected on front end.

How does a user clear a filter once its selected?
