How to change wordpress date order?

I’ve just switched from cutenews to wordpress, and everything’s just confusing me on here, lol. But I was wondering, does anyone know how to change the order of the date on your blog? Like how do you make it so the Month and Date appears, and how do you change its order? I was looking in my news.php and it said something about ‘F jS, Y’? I’m guessing Y stands for Year? Haha, I’m not sure what the rest stand for, lol. Help? 🙂 I’d appreciate it.
