Support » Theme: Sela » How to change the text of "Continue Reading" in CSS — Sela Theme?

  • Resolved garniecsmaku

    Thanks for all of the other great instructions on your forum regarding changes to the basic Sela theme using CSS!

    I am looking to change the text label “Continue Reading” to something else using the CSS. text. On another thread, I saw how to change a number of other aspects using the more-link tab:

    .more-link {
    background-color: #ffe6b3;
    color: #333;
    display: block;
    padding: 6px 15px;
    text-align: center;

    All that works well….but how do I change the “Continue Reading” text?

    BTW, the website is

    Thanks for the help!

  • Don’t you wanna translate the whole theme into your language?

    Try this plugin

    To go with CSS way, kinda hackish but it works, use this code in your Custom CSS plugin. Just change the text to your own.

    .more-link::before {
    	content: "Read more →";
    	display: block;
    	height: 27px;
    .more-link {
    	height: 27px;
    	overflow: hidden;

    Thanks. I have tried LOCO so far, but it does not seem to take. Do I need to have everyone of LOCO phrases translated before it becomes active?

    garniecsmaku – in case you’d like to know how to install Sela correctly in Polish, here’s a guide.

    You’ll need to follow a few steps, since Sela isn’t fully translated into Polish and so isn’t included already with what you downloaded from (If you look in Sela’s languages folder, you’ll see the languages that were included by default.)

    1. To add a Polish language file for Sela to your site, first head to GlotPress:
    2. From the dropdown menu at the bottom left, choose the .mo file format option, and click Export to download the Polish translation file and save it on your hard drive:
    3. Rename the file on your hard drive.
    4. Upload the file to your site in this spot in your WordPress install:
    I just tested this on my site and “Continue reading” is now showing in Polish:

    Note that your site language would need to be set to Polish for this to work correctly. Right now it’s set to US English, as I can see in the browser source:

    <html lang="en-US">

    You can change the language in Settings > General.

    Doing that will also give you Polish dates, words like “Leave a comment”, etc.
