How to change the plugin from "sign-in" to "sign-up"?
Greetings. I am a journalist building a Home Entertainment network with a combination of WordPress/bbPress/BuddyPress.
I’m writing this because we have chosen to use your WordPress Social Login, since it’s the most complete one in terms of providers that is also completely free. First of all, thanks for your work, it’s really good!
That said, we’re looking to add some functionality to it – specifically, it seems that this and other WP plugins to login and perform some actions “anonymously”, using the login credentials from the connected social network, but BuddyPress requires that users be identified in the wp_users table.
Which means, according to a coder I’ve spoken with, that unless we can link 1:1 social logins with registered WP users, a social login isn’t going to allow a user to participate in Buddypress.
In this case, our only option would be to add some code to register a new user every time valid social login credentials are received, then refer those credentials to the newly created user account. This would be quite similar to how many other softwares handle it, like IP.Board for example, essentially signing-up the user. Can anyone of you give us any direction or hint on how to proceed in this? I imagine someone might have already explored this route here.
Thanks in advance!
