  • The WordPress homepage is the default page for the cutomization preview window. Therefore, when I am trying to customize the appearance of my WordPress installation by following the menu Appearance > Customize, the page that first appears by default in the right, preview, portion of the customizer is whatever I have chosen as my WordPress Front Page. How do I change the default page that appears in the customizer preview window to another specific page, such as the sample page, without of course changing the WordPress Front Page?

  • I don’t think there is any way around this in less you change the front page.

I don’t think there is any way around this in less you change the front page.

There must be something in the code of the customization page that makes the Front Page the default page for the customization preview window. The question is where to find that code and how to change it so as to change the default page to any other specific page, without changing the Front Page. And I am sure many people here must be aware of the answer. It should be a fairly simple thing to do. I wish someone could help.

There is no way that I can figure out. The only way you can do it is if you code something.

You can supply ?url=$theaddress with the URL to the customizer to define what page it should show. If the URL isn’t set it’ll by default go to home_url(). So if that’s not acceptable you could always filter that and check for IFRAME_REQUEST.
