    Hi @yroldan99

Thanks for reaching out. Installing the Meta Slider plugin and creating a slider will bring up that slider in the theme settings home page slider drop down. For a full run through, please, see:

Let me know if you need any further help 🙂

Now that you mentioned it … 8) I tried installing the base plugin by uploading ml-slider3.3.4.1.zip but I get this error:
    Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/ml-slider.3.3.4.1.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. The plugin contains no files.

    Plugin install failed.

I also bought the current version for sale on their site ml-slider-pro-2.6.5 and it too fails to install.

Sorry to hear it. I haven’t come across this error before. To confirm:

    1. The file on your desktop is still zipped? Safari likes to un-zip folders automatically.
    2. Let’s rather install the base plugin from the Plugins menu:

Plugins > Add New > Use the search field. Search for Meta Slider. Install and activate.

    3. Once that’s done, perhaps, try re-downloading the Meta Slider Pro zip folder from their site.

    4. Try installing the Pro upgrade again. Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.

Let me know how you come along.

    1. Yes. I downloaded the file directly in to a folder the blog has direct access. I used IE11 to download it.
    2. Yes. I used this method to install it.
    3. Yes. I tried re-downloading the zipped file using Chrome

    Same result.
Thanks for your help though. I will keep trying. 8)

Ok, so the base plugin is installed and activated and we’re just working on installing the pro version?

Ideally the pro zip file should be on your desktop, you can then browse to it from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.

I am trying to install the base plug in and it is failing.

Hopefully we’re not missing each other. The base plugin is on the WordPress.org plugin directory. You should be able to install it without any zip file. Plugins > Add New > Use the search form top right to search for the term “Meta Slider”. Is that plugin installation process failing?

    Thread Starter yroldan99

    (@yroldan99)

Yes I downloaded the file from https://wordpress.org/plugins/ml-slider/. The version I receive is 3.3.4.1 I also downloaded the same file from https://www.metaslider.com/upgrade/ same version, hoping it would make a difference; but both base files fail to load with the error … the package could not be installed. The plugin contains no files. However, when I inspect ..\\wp-content\upgrade\ there is a folder created for every time I’ve tried to install the package with files. For example ..\wp-content\upgrade\ml-slider.3.3.4.18\ and ..\ml-slider.3.3.4.19\

Sorry for repeating myself. If you’re having trouble with manually installing I’d recommend auto installing. Auto install doesn’t require a ZIP file and is done from within the WordPress admin via Plugins > Add New > Search Plugins > Type Meta Slider > Locate Meta Slider and click Install Now.

Searching this error in Google it looks like there are a number of possible causes. The majority seem focussed on hosting setup related issues. It might be worth getting in touch with your hosts and asking them if they’ve seen this error before and if they can assist.

Yes that makes sense, nothing would please me more. 8) but I am behind a company’s firewall which prevents me from auto-installing from wordpress.org. I will ask if an dramatic act of nature is not require to open that hole for a short time.
Thanks again, I appreciate your patience and professionalism.

Let’s also give a quick shout out to @matchalabs the author and see if they’ve seen a problem like this before.

Ahh right, ok, sorry for asking so many times, thanks for clearing this up. Yes, firewall would be prevent auto-install.

Can you install any other plugins or is the plugin manual installation isolated to Meta Slider?
