How to Change Site title to NOT H1 - (10 posts)

Hi, if my site title is set to H1, and my page titles are h1, that means I have 2 x H1's on each page.

I have a twenty eleven child theme, and wish to add in a line of custom CSS to change the site title to H2, or preferably just a font/size/colour, etc so that Headers follow a reasonable hierarchy (H1 page title first, H2 subheading second, etc.)

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Try adding your CSS in the area allocated of this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin/

Hi, thanks, but its what code to use, not where to add it that is the problem.

I have a theme that has a 'add custom css option" - I just don't know what to put in it...?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks you.

Your query is best suited to a forum that specialises in CSS .

    Hi, OK.

I thought this was it, but maybe I should go to the advanced section.

to change the site title to H2

to change the html title tag, you need to edit the header.php template.

to keep the same look after teh change, as it is now, you will probably need to edit the styles as well.

    or preferably just a font/size/colour

if you are doing this for seo reasons, then editing the styles will have no effect.

    Hi thanks,

I only want to do it so that there is only one H1 per page, which I thought would be best for SEO. Is that not so?

When I go to source code, I see the following within the Body Class ...
    <h1 id="site-title"><span>Hypnotherapy London Hypnosis | Harley Street</span></h1>
    <h2 id="site-description">1-7 Harley Street, London W1G 9QD, UK Tel: 0845 226 7123</h2>

Just thought that if that wasn't a H1, it would be better ... no?

    @ andrewp11

Did you ever figure this out?

I am after the same result and looking to see what to put in header.php child temp. or CSS child to change this as well.
