First, let me introduce myself. I’m a Spanish teacher who runs two WordPress blogs: my personal blog and one educational blog in wordpress.com.

Second, please forgive my English. Having problems with foreign languages is an Spanish illness 😉

And third, my question, which I’m not sure I’ve been able to explain well in the title. I’d like to change the appearance of some entries in my blog. I mean, entries in category “mini” should appear different from the rest (background, or border, or something). Something like what can be seen in http://www.escolar.net (it’s in Spanish, sorry).

I’ve been googleing and searching here, and I’ve mailed the owner of escolar.net, but I haven’t been able to achieve it. Is there any option to get this? Any theme, or hack?

you could try and use the post_class() in your post div, which would give you a lot of additional css classes to style your post with.

or you could add the category slug in the folowing way (assuming that the post has only one category) to the post div; something like so:
<div id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>" class="post <?php $categories = wp_get_post_categories(get_the_ID()); echo get_category($categories[0])->slug; ?>">

and then style your special post in ‘mini’ categeory like so:
.post.category-mini { ... } in the first case; or
.post.category-mini { ... } in the second case.

Yeah, I think post_class() is what I was looking for. I’m not sure I’ll be able to implement this (I’m not exactly a programmer), but I’ll try.
