I am new to WordPress. I am developing a custom theme. Others says that I have to change permissions to 777 and the like. What will I do? I am using Windows 7 and XAMPP.

You don't need to use the WP editor when developing a theme. You can access the files directly and edit them in the text editor of your choice.

    Thanks Gyan.

It may not be the solution to my problem. I searched the internet to find out solutions.

I actualy posted here my real problem: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/post-thumbnails-or-featured-images-doesnt-show-on-my-main-home-page

It's all about the featured image. You may reply to that post of mine.
