Support » Themes and Templates » How to change pagination position?

  • Hi,

I am using WP3.8.1 theme twenty thirteen + standard wp paginantion – I just type in the HTML tab <!– nextpage –>

All is OK, but I’d like to slightly change the pagination position.

If you look here: you will find that my pagination is UNDER related posts, adds, sharing buttons.

I’d like to keep pagination JUST AFTER my post.

Where is the file where position of my pagination is stored? I have a basic PHP knowledge however I do not know WP at all 🙁

Can please anyone tell me how to modify this?

    Thank you 🙂

edit: I found content.php file and I was able to pasted the code to get an extra pagination on the top of my page, however I can’t paste the code JUST AFTER my post. I appears on the bottom under all adds, or on the top of my page 🙁

The code, which I pasted is:

    <?php wp_link_pages( array( ‘before’ => ‘<div class=”page-links”><span class=”page-links-title”>’ . __( ‘Pages:’, ‘twentythirteen’ ) . ‘</span>’, ‘after’ => ‘</div>’, ‘link_before’ => ‘<span>’, ‘link_after’ => ‘</span>’ ) ); ?>

I am still not sure which file I should modify…

  • Do not edit the theme itself. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

    Hi esmi,

Thank you for your post. I am not an WP expert and I think I will not be an expert about WP. This pagination change is only one change which I am planning.

It means I wouldn’t create a child theme, if update override my change, I can do the change again – it is NOT critical.

If someone know which file to be modified it will be great for me – thank you 🙂

You can download a pre-made Twenty Thirteen child theme from here.

Thank you esmi – I can and I will try to use the child theme just for fun, however I am guessing I still need to know which file is to be updated 🙂

Please install & activate your child theme first.

Thank you, I will do it in next 4 hours (6pm UK) I am at work now 🙂

Hi Esmi, Thank you again for you help. Ok, it was simple step 🙂 I have copied now the child 2013 into themes folder so I can see the theme through my admin panel.

What is my next step? 🙂

The theme is very small, has only three files – functions, style, and png 🙂

Guys, can anyone please tell me, which file takes control of the order which plugin is displayed first, which one last?

For example I’d like my pagination to be displayed before plugin-counter visits, or before plugin related posts.

Which file is to be changed? Please give me a clue 🙂
