[Resolved] How to change mysql user password?

  • I have an older blog and mysql user password is weak. I want to change mysql user password and do not know the steps to be done. In phpMyAdmin – MySQL databases are not options to change the password. How to change password…?

    Thanks!

  • Likely from your hosts control panel, there should be a MySQL management section.

You don’t typically get access to mysql account info via phpmyadmin when using shared hosts and alike, but usuaully they provide an area to create/remove mysql accounts via their particular control panel (cpanel, or whatever the host has).

Yes, it is an area creates / delete, but can not change password there. Can I remove username and password and create it again with another password. If I do that and then add your new password in wp-config file is right? He did someone like this …?

Contact your host and ask them if they can provide a new, more secure password.

If they supply a facility to change passwords i’m sure they’ll point you to it, else i can’t see why they’d not change it for you.

My blog hosting company that has nothing to do with this problem. I manage the site with wordpress. Please help me understand how to change mysql user password. Thanks!

    Hi,

You can change the MySQL user password from the hosting control panel MySQL management section. If there is no option to edit the password for database user then you can delete and recreate the user with strong password.

    Thanks,
