Hi WordPress Community. I have my blog posted in a sub directory of my portfolio site and want that sub directory to have its's own URL. Is this even possible?

    My portfolio is:

    My blog is:

    I want to make
    http://www.designjumper.com = http://kennethcooney.com/wordpress

I bought the URL http://www.designjumper.com and went to Settings > General "Site Address (URL) and pasted the new URL in here, but it won't work.

This is driving me nuts and have been trying to do this for a week now.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

You just cannot change the URL in Settings -> General, You also have to Move / Copy all the files, etc.

Thanks Rajesh. I didn't buy any server space for the new URL, but only URL address, so I haven't moved the files. I have server space on the old URL: http://kennethcooney.com/wordpress
and thought that I could just buy the new URL, but host it on my old server.

Thanks for your help everyone. I ended up just buying some server space and reinstalling WordPress. I only had 2 postings so wasn't that big a deal.

I know this post is old, but I'm having a problem with changing the url. I've been doing it for years with no issues. I copy the index file to the root folder and edit the file with the url of the folder containing the installation. Lately (since wordpress 3.7 or 3.8), whenever I attempt to change the url I get a parse error. Has anyone else been having this issue and can you provide a solution? The is nothing wrong with line 17 in the index file as the error is claiming.
