• Hi, I use the standard theme and since 1 hour try to make a page with just pictures. I want to show the pictures at the size they are, but whatever I do it doesn’t work. The images are shown even much smaller than the boundrys of the theme. I have for example 1024 px width and it is shown at max. 650 px or such.

What I did so far step by step :

insert the image at full size

I tried the different “Formats” offered in the editor at the right side

delete all the class info in the html of the image

deleted all linking of the image

deleted size info of image (though it showed the size numbers correctly, it never showed the image at that size)

I FTP re-uploaded all images and overwrote the ones on the server with the ones with the original size

Seems wordpress has a really serious bug in the system rt now.

Any help on WYSIWYG would be great.

    Regards,
    Frank

  • What image do you mean? The background image for your theme?

simply uploaded pictures for a post, to show them as a gallery, just beneath each other

The Twenty Eleven theme is designed to deliberately limit the width of uploaded images so that they do not overspill the content area and break a site’s design. If you want to publish larger images, I suggest you look for a suitable photoblogging theme.

ok, whow, thx for info. so the code is processed, no matter what it says it comes as programmed in the bowels of the system … is there a way to turn it off ? because so far all the versions and themes updates were creating sudden incompatibility and confusion. I was trying to put this site with just zero extras, so to concentrate on the stuff I have to do and not the systems needs all the time again.

comes as programmed in the bowels of the system

It’s controlled by your theme – which I wouldn’t really describe as the “bowels” of WordPress. More like the “skin” really. 😉

is there a way to turn it off

Only by creating a child theme and then creating an amended functions.php file in your new child theme. I would not advise this, though, This was a good design decision. Remove that image width restriction and your site will start to look pretty awful.

So why not just insert a smaller image with a link to the full size image?

thank you esmi. For now the automatism has created a slideshow with, you’re right, neatly aligned same width pictures http://mateo.hfpz.net/paintings-2011 but it reloads to page top per picture … I see there is no way around digging into a gallery plugin … any tip for a great gallery plugin very appreciated.

I couldn’t recommend a gallery plugin myself but the following one is very popular: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
