We just got hit with a bunch of spam bots that are taxing our API queries. How exactly do we go about blocking spam? Algolia forwarded me this link which deals with creating a Rate Limiting API key.

However, I don’t see a way to implement that key within the plugin settings.

I **think** they mean visiting https://www.algolia.com/account/api-keys/restricted and creating a custom API key meant to be used for search only but with the extra restrictions mentioned on their documentation pages.

Then you’d drop that new one in the “search only” field in WP Search with Algolia settings pages and continue from there.

I have never done this specifically so I’m going based on what I’m managing to read at these links:

Appreciate the help, it looks like I missed a tab on the Algolia page. I added rate limiting to 10 per hour to test. WP-Search accepted the key, so we should be good to go. I hope this helps someone else as well.
