How to block categories parents, lest they be marked?

    I’m using parent and child categories, eg:

    parents A1
    children A1.1
    children A1.2

    parents A2
    children A2.1
    children A2.2

    Please… How to block categories parents (A1 and A2), lest they be marked?
    Must be displayed in the post dashboard, but are not available for marking.
    I just need to mark the categories children. The parents would only categories to group the children.
