How To Block Abusive Users Who Uses Proxy Servers to Abuse Blog? (3 posts)

Since I have a popular blog with high traffic it also attracts abusive members. When one such pushes the envelope too far, I opt for blocking the IP using htaccess entirely. However there is one who consistently continues to abuse the blog and gets by by using proxy servers. What options do I have here? Is there a way to block all proxy traffic or is that not a good idea? If so, what can a guy do to stop abuse?

Hi Tranny, I think blocking traffic from anonymous proxies is a smart move. The trick is determining if the proxy is legit (squid,ms isa, etc.) coming from a corporate or ISP proxy or a user hiding behind an anonymizer proxy. Sounds like your culprit is the latter.

I've written a plugin that can determine anonymous proxy usage and blocks posts from them. It's rather new but you're welcome to try it out. Here's the download link: Killabot APx Plugin

This plugin doesn't block them from actually ACCESSING the site - only from posting to it. That's good - but how do I block them from actually seeing it?
