• How to backup content and database when the hosting server is in safe mode?

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me out here. Trying to backup my site, but I’ve run into some problems along the way.

First of all, I tried using BackUpWordpress to backup my site, but this plugin needs PHP Safe Mode to be OFF to function. My webhosting server company refused to turn this off – so that rules out this way of doing it.

Secondly, I turned to Better WP Security which also has a backup function. This time however, I ran into a error message reading:

“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of xx bytes exhausted. Tried to allocate 35 bytes” This is an estimate of what it said, because when I returned to the plugin after this error message – it read that ‘you don’t have the sufficient permissions to view this page’.

Is there a way of freeing up memory? Or is this simply happening because PHP is running in safe mode – hence the script isn’t able to allocate any memory from the webhost?

Looking forward to hearing your answers. Thanks!
