Support » Plugin: Restrict Content by Role » How to back out restrictions on content by role?

Using the “Restrict Content by Role” plug in, I wish to remove restrictions that have been placed on pages and a whole WP web site.

I can easily see how to add restrictions but not how to remove restrictions.
I have succeeded in making it so that everyone going to the site must have a password and login. I.E. I have prevented public access for reading.

What setting should I use at the top of the site and then propagate it down.
Or what setting removes restrictions on read (opens for read) content and sub-content?

    Hi teddley,

To remove restrictions you have to visit each page that you added them to I’m afraid.

In a future build I will add options to quickly allow you to remove all permissions.

    Will this be sufficient?

    Hey teddley,

I’m about to start work on this request, I was just wondering, are you wanting to find a way to apply and remove restrictions to all pages, rather then manage them one at a time?

To do this you have to do it page by page, however if you let me know the specific functionality you require I can add this into the build.

    Hi Matt,

While a batch remove feature would be a great addition, so would a reverse Role restriction (and forgive me for hijacking this thread):

An option to either Include or Exclude the selected roles to access page/post.

Similar to how Role based widget plugins are doing things, there are options to apply your role selections to include or exclude the widget based on a secondary option to include roles or exclude role.

Example: I select 2 roles, then select an option from a secondary pull-down which contains two options:
    1) Hide for All except for selected (new feature)
    2) Show to All except for selected (current behavior)

What would it take to commission such a feature?

I forgot to mention, your screenshot of the plugin settings page:

.. does in-fact show the behavior we’re looking for, e.g. “Select the User Roles that are able to view this content (or its sub content)…

How can we restore this functionality? Perhaps there is a previous version of your plugin that does this? OF course having the option for both include or exclude would be great, but we’ll settle for the behavior outlined in the screen shot.

    Please advise. Thank you!

    Hi rrecurse,

The next release is going to have a feature to remove all restrictions by role across all content. This should be released within the next week.
