How to avoid new post showing up on 1st page &….

  • 2 questions:

Im wondering what I would need to do to avoid posts showing up automatically on the first page when i publish it. I have a newsletter category that when I publish something on it, I dont want it showing up automatically.

Is there a method to have certain categories not publish to the main page?

Also, is there a way to have like the first paragaph of a post show on the 1st page, and then a “read more…” link following it that lets to the full article?

    Thanks!

  • You can skip posts from certain categories by excluding them from The Loop. Read more here.

To manually split a post, use the <!–more–> quick tag just before the second paragraph.

Another option is to edit the publish date, so it goes to the back page.
