Support » Plugin: Comment Images Reloaded » How to attach support file?

    Hello, on your homepage https://wp-puzzle.com/our-support/ you write
    “Available only at official WordPress.org forum: theme Basic, plugins Comment Images Reloaded”, hence why I am happy to ask here.
    But you also write “Send your saved file with message about problem to our technical support”, and I cannot see how to upload the support file here at wordpress?

    Basically, I already left a splendid review, so good your plugin is: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/amazing-plugin-988/

    Totally down to my own fault, which I can’t replicate despite trying for the fourth full day today…, I somehow made some kind of mistake that stopped your plugin showing the comment images, both front end and in wp admin.

    For the life of me I can’t find WHY the images stopped showing, or rather: Why the plugin no longer writes to postmeta (database).

    Would you beable to point me on the right direction, just a few guesses of yours?

    @cooldavidoff,

    thanks for the review!

    You can try this service https://imgur.com/

    Currently, we only support embeds from https://imgur.com/

    Simply insert the Imgur link into your forum post, and it will magically embed, just like how inserting a YouTube link into a WordPress post embeds that YouTube video.

    Even though we only support embeds from Imgur at this time, nothing will stop you from linking to an image that was uploaded elsewhere, it simply won’t embed.

    See more here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-org-forum-topic-editor-insert-and-manage-image-media/#post-9474729

    Please can you to do it steps?

    1. First of all, delete and reinstall CIR. The CIR data would remain. Go to next if problem is still.

    2. Upload new image and publish comment. Check wp_comments_meta table for new row with key comment_image_reloaded. Was it added?

    Thank you so much for your reply, and so fast! Like comment images reloaded πŸ™‚

    Interesting site, imgur. But I don’t understand, did you maybe misunderstand by question?

    I didn’t look for viral images, your plugin is perfect. I merely messed up sth, don’t know what, and since then (4 days ago) I can’t get it back to work….
    imgur doesn’t help with sending you my support file though (the system snapshot).
    Or did I miss sth about imgur?

    Yes, I have of course tried all that (not stupid, lol), but was to no avail.
    From the top of my head, this I have tried (and more):

    – Reinstalled (at least 6 times)
    – Reinstalled after deleting in db every occurence of comment-images-reloaded, and cir
    – disabled our ajax commenting system
    – let it load jquery in the header (normally we don’t)
    – loaded with magnific css, loaded without
    – loaded with the 2kb small cir.min.js, loaded with the 23kb cir_andzoom.min.js
    – all variations of settings (and I mean, really ALL variations: I am mathematician)
    – installed it in development environment (same result, no longer posts/shows images)
    – installed it in new, naked twentyseventeen wp installation (here it works, of course!)
    – checked all server settings relating to uploads
    – created the system snapshot (great plugin by the way)
    – analyzed it, for anything obvious (am no programmer)
    – manually placed the code <?php if (function_exists(“the_cir_upload_field”)) { the_cir_upload_field(); } ?>
    (great code/solution by the way!) in different locations of the comment form
    – checked the debug file for references to the plugin
    …..

    Like I say, 4 full days already…. tiring…. when you don’t strike gold (solve it).
    Only then I posted here in support πŸ™‚

    Oh forgot: Yes, of course I also checked the wp_commentmeta (it’s called in my installation): nothing from cir gets written anymore, only entries like these (from wp I believe):
    _wp_trash_meta_status
    _wp_trash_meta_time

    But again, in the new, clean 2017 wp installation, commentmeta of course DOES write comment_image_reloaded and comment_image_reloaded_ur names. Hence why there it works. πŸ™‚

    So yeah, I know already the problem is nothing get written to the db, I just don’t know why all of a sudden?
    Earlier it DID work already, that’s what confuses me so much…. I messed up sth.

    @cooldavidoff,

    What about theme changes? Was edited something files before those 4 days?

    – installed it in new, naked twentyseventeen wp installation (here it works, of course!)

    Is CIR work correct when just change theme to twentyseventeen on your website?

    p.s. Oh, imgurl… I just didn’t get it right away a question about file uploading at first…

    But you also write β€œSend your saved file with message about problem to our technical support”, and I cannot see how to upload the support file here at wordpress?

    I thought at first that you talking about image file not about snapshot file πŸ˜‰

    @cooldavidoff,

    Can You send snapshot file and website url at my email wppuzzle(a)gmail.com?

    Try also to check individual post option for enable/disable comment images.

    Great tip again, thank you.
    – changing theme to 2017 also did not recover the functionality to show the images (neither in wp admin, nor front end)
    That’s a great tip because it narrows down for me: my inflicted error cannot be in theme files πŸ™‚
    Do you have any more such tips that could narrow down error investigation to a single file? πŸ˜‰

    “I thought at first that you talking about image file not about snapshot file”
    Sorry, I should have been precise: I meant the system snapshot file, yes, that’s what I meant with “support file”. πŸ™‚

    – “Try also to check individual post option for enable/disable comment images.”
    Okay, so those already say “Enable comment images”.

    Now I understand why you link to imgur: you can upload your images, like pinterest. Okay, thank you.

    I’ve sent the snapshot support file to the gmail address, thank you. I included some other info just in case you have another idea where I should look further? πŸ˜‰
    Normally I find my errors fast, but this time, OMG, 4 days already…

    David,

    I am guess it is trouble with ajax comments.
