How to allow zooming on photos?

Hello,
I’m not an expert in WordPress. I recently installed WPPA+ on my website. I uploaded some albums with tree structure, etc… and I performed some settings. All seems fine excepted I would see a magnifying glass as pointer on the slideshow in order to zoom in the photos I wish (as seen on WP Photo Album Plus pages for instance. Please, could you tell me how can I do this? Does it need another plugin than WPPA+?
Is this feature called Lightbox? Or is it different? I confess to not unserstanding the purpose of the Lightbox either… and how it works.

May I take the opportunity to ask you which theme you use on your websites? I guess they are customized but what is the basic ones? Perhaps you could help me (see a question I asked on another forum). Thank you.
Another question: did you developed your own responsive menu for smartphones or do you use a plugin? In this case, which ne is it? Thanks again.
