I have registered plus and theme my login plugins on my site. I am wondering how I can modify one of those so that I can utilize the custom password input they advertise on the plugin page. What do I need to change from either plugin so that the passwords are no longer WP generated, but user generated?

With Register Plus, in Settings->Register Plus, you should check the box next to Allow New Registrations to set their own Password.

@nyliferocks – Try to deactivate all other plugins, does it work then? Reactivate, one-by-one to see what causes the problem.
