Support » Theme: Tiny Framework » How to adjust position of next/prev post navigation

  • In a child theme, I am trying to move the next/previous page navigation bar to the top of each post, rather than the bottom. Can you show me what I need to change, and in which file to find it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • The most efficient way to move the post navigation is by manually moving the post navigation code to the top and override the single.php files on child themes. Another way of achieving it is using the css code below.

    /* Mobile */
    @media only screen and (min-width:240px) and (max-width: 720px), screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio : 1.5 ) and (max-device-width:800px)
    {
    	body.single .site-main {
    	    display: flex;
    	    flex-wrap: wrap;
    	    width: 100%;
    	}

    	body.single .pagination, .post-navigation {
    		width: 100%;
    		order: 1;
    	}

    	body.single .post {
    	    order: 2;
    	}

    	body.single .comments-area {
    	    order: 3;
    	}
    }

    I’m using flexbox to re-arrange your content on mobile screen. The downside of this approach is it may not work on older browsers. Try adding it to your child theme.

    Thank you, Septian, but I don’t quite understand, or maybe I wasn’t clear.

    To use your first (“most efficient”) option, in what file do I “manually move the post navigation to the top”? I want the post navigation to be at the top not only on Mobile, (and not only when looking at one post), but ALWAYS.

    It looks as if some variation of your suggested code would do that (leaving out the parts that restrict it to “Mobile”. (I’m pretty new at all this….I don’t completely understand how all these files interact – but this exercise is helping me learn.)

    Best, Martha
