How to add SitemapIndex item not hardcoding the core?

    Hi, I added some custom rewrite rules to my blog any i want to add it on my sitemap. I’ve done it editing some core code but i don’t want it to be that way because it will soon break on upgrade. Is there a way to add it programmatically? What i did was adding this line to the SitemapBuilder.

    $gsg->AddSitemap(NAMEOFSITEMAP, null, $blogUpdate);
