• NextGen has to be one of the most weirdly written things I’ve come across. I hope someone can help me work this out.
Galleries and albums have me flummoxed, so I’ve ended up with an album that I want to add to a page, but I can only add it if it is a gallery, but there is nowhere to make it a gallery?
    It’s so confusing.
I’ve done it before but I have no idea how I managed it and I can’t remember if you get albums in a gallery or galleries in an album.

I’d appreciate some help on this but also is there a better photo plugin out there? All I want to do is post albums of photos like you do on FB or any other site. It shouldn’t be this complicated.

Can’t believe it’s 3 weeks and not one word so far.
Is there at the very least a help file on NextGEN that I can download??

You should try posting this in the Nextgen support forum if you actually want somebody to see this. This is a general WordPress forum and not likely to get seen by anyone that can help you.

    http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/nextgen-gallery

@ssphillips – Thanks for the recommendation for @borismoggy to post in the support forums. We are definitely active there … but do not scan every conceivable place someone may post here.

@borismoggy – Have you tried our main documentation page? Here is a link: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/help/

To simplify the terminology … images go into galleries, galleries go into albums (and albums can also go into albums but that is starting to make this complex).

To insert a gallery (or album) into a post or page, you should be able to use the IGW (green button) in the TinyMCE Visual tab to make the choices from the panels in the pop up window. It will display a “preview” image in your post or page which will dynamically transform into the display you have chosen when you publish and read the post or page.

    Thanks!

Thanks sphilips, and phootcrati member, however if you go out into the forum, and hunt around like I did, there is NO grouping called plugin. Only one called Plugins and hacks. Within Plugins and hacks there is NO subgroup called NextGEN. So without the link you gave me there is no chance I would possibly have found it.
Or am I being completely dumb here??
http://wordpress.org/support/…..go there, there is not a ‘plugin’ section. Unless I am totally stupid or blind or both.
However thanks for the link, now I have it it’s bookmarked.

    Photocrati member…
Yes I’ve found the documentation but I can;’t find where to download it. I don’t always have internet to access the help and tbh I could click all day without knowing what I’m looking for.

“”To insert a gallery (or album) into a post or page, you should be able to use the IGW (green button) in the TinyMCE Visual tab””
I had no idea that button was there! It will probably now solve all my problems! For something so basic can’t you find a way of telling people it’s there?

I very much appreciate the help from both of you. This has gone on long enough with tons of frustration so it’s a pleasure to think I can finally get on with things.
