Support » Fixing WordPress » how to add Navigation to Header for non-internet masters

  • hey I’m trying to make it so that the pages in my blog appear in the header as links. I’ve spend the whole day reading and trying to update the header.php with different things i’ve found but nothing is working.

    Can someone please explain to me how to do this, like what code i should enter into which part of the theme editor. please don’t respond with a link to some other support region because i’ve read through them all and it’s not working out for me.

    thanks so much!

  • Where is your blog? What theme? What did you try?

    my blog is at and i tried to add the following code into the header.php file of the kubrick theme:

    <div id="header">
    	<div id="headerimg">
    		<h1><a>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>
    		<div class="description"><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></div>
    wp_list_pages('sort_column=menu_order'); ?>

    i can also post the whole block of code that i have for that page if that’s helpful. I’m also trying to add my own header image and the code says to just title my image personalheader.jpg and put it in the proper folder but that definately did not work out for me either.

    thanks for the help

    1. For posting code here: “backticks” are not the same as apostrophe! Backticks are located usuallly on the left top, where ~ [tilde] is.
    2. No, don’t post long code here, it will be deleted. For long code use and post back with the URI.
    3. Check you header.php – there is a missing </style> tag just before the </head>.
    4. Modifying the default theme is a PITA. You should be better off finding a theme that alraedy has the nav you want.
