How to add jQuery to WordPress

    I added a jQuery script to my functions.php file and uploaded it to my site: Here is my functions.php: http://pastebin.ca/1976588

    It is supposed to highlight search terms. But it isn’t highlighting for me, so I don’t know what is wrong. I am assuming it is not a problem with the script itself but the way I am trying to integrate it into WordPress.
