• Hi Guys, I hope you can help and understand me.

if you upload images directly via FileZilla to wordpress/wp-content/uploads you CANNOT see them when you login into wordpress and click Media -> Library
    WHY?

What should I do that I can see them?

    thanks!

Edit: I need this because if I upload really really big images like 6000×6000 my webspace doesnt crunch them automatically for thumbnails. So I want to resize them manually and upload them, however I want to use the Media/Libary to add them later into pages or posts, because thats more comfortable to use the uploaded pictures, instead of relinking everything on my own.

thats not exactly what I want.

I can upload via WordPress large images,
after uploading there appears some kind of error message
but those uploaded pictures are available in the Library.

Just the THUMBNAILS are not created.
and this is what I want.

without thumbnails I have to link those 5mb large images directly
and when someone visit that site with 20 images of that size, it takes years to load the page and cost lots of traffic >_<

    Sorry, got it now.
You’re getting a memory error when creating thumbnails?

    yes!!

    What’s the error message?

Have you tried just uploading thumbnail versions with the correct names?
If the original image loads then the thumbnails should be recognised even if they were uploaded via ftp.

of course I tried. this was the first one I did.
    but unfortunately it doesnt work.

if you upload images via ftp you need a special plugin called “Add From Server” so that the library recognize them, but if you use this plugin, for the self created thumbnails, they simply appear just as new images and not in the “special thumbnail option” see below

    Error Message
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24000 bytes) in /home/stealthw/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/media.php on line 254

Try increasing the memory available to PHP:

is there no other way than asking host?
I tried those 3 other options, they are not working.
    you cant do this manually?

I am pretty sure I just need to add a line somewhere in the wordpress code.
if you export All content, those thumbnails are exported as well.
this means, it has nothing to do with the MySQL Databases.

if you edit the Back Up file All Content.xml

you can see the thumbnails files description and you can add probably the missing one manually, but the code is TOO MUCH MESSY For none-genius people =(

Edit: I guess I will have to live without it, until someone invents a plugin…. =(

    you cant do this manually?

The only manual methods are listed on the post I linked to.

    I see, thanks anyway!
then I will have to do it without those automatically created thumbnails
