Hi There!
Sorry for the delay. I wish this were possible but YouTube does not allow this. To quote them directly, “To give you the best viewing experience, YouTube adjusts the quality of your video stream based on your viewing conditions.”. It’s also not possible via their API either, so we cannot set it on our end.

But please let me know if you have any questions!
Hello Andre and thank you for your answer. I understand for youtube.
What about Vimeo ? I just tried it and I can’t find this settings neither.
Thank you for your help,
Best regards
Of course! With Vimeo, we don’t have a switcher, since this isn’t something that’s available in their API. However, you can have the videos default to HD. If you have a Vimeo Pro or Plus account, you can change this setting.
Log into your Vimeo account and then click ME > MY SETTINGS > VIDEOS > FILE SETTINGS
In the File Settings, click both:
“Make my videos compatible with mobile devices”
“Always play my videos in HD, when possible”
When an option opens, you can click to “Also, apply to all existing videos.”
Check it, click on SAVE AS DEFAULT button.

Hello Andre and thank you for this valuable and detailed answer.
Unfortunately, I have a Plus account, but can’t find the “File settings” your talk about in the “Video” menu (I just have “Upload defaults” / “Embed presets” / “Player logos”).
I am located in France, so maybe that is a feature only available to specific countries yet ? (On google, I can only find the “?quality=1080p” option in the video url).
Best regards
Ah, maybe that’s the case. We don’t yet have support for that URL parameter in our player for Vimeo, but maybe we could add this in the future.
Hello Andre !
Thank you for this answer
I totally vote for this feature for vimeo 😉
Best regards
