I would like to add filters to my wordpress site. Filters I want to add are as follows
1. Location filter. I want to separate the posts by location. In fact I don’t want other posts to show up when a particular location is selected.

2. I would also like to setup filters for posts in each category. for example I have a category called MUSIC. I want to filter the posts based on custom filters which I setup. example of filters will be rock music,jazz music,reggae music

Let me also add that I am a beginner to wordpress but have some software background although not in php.

Hi milricks;

1) First you want to make a custom taxonomy location for posts. You can use plugins or code snippet to make custom taxonomy.

Read http://codex.wordpress.org/Taxonomies & just search custom taxonomy in WordPress.

2) You can use a good plugin, search & filter for filtering options.

I tried this plugin & it works well with custom taxonomies.
