How to add code to child theme's style.css so it works
-
Website URL: Androids.net.au
Theme being used: Graphene (graphene-theme.com)
PHP version: Latest
Server platform/hosting company: Hostgator.comI’ve installed Child Theme Configurator plugin to help me create & manage a simple child theme for Graphene. I don’t do code but I can copy/paste okay if I know where to put it. But child theme usage still confuses the heck out of me.
In Graphene’s style.css, there is style code that makes the Secondary Menu labels UPPERCASE:
#secondary-menu > li { font: normal 11px arial; margin: 0 5px; text-transform: uppercase;
This style override is a nuisance. By searching Graphene’s style.css I worked out that I just have to change it to:
#secondary-menu > li { font: normal 11px arial; margin: 0 5px; text-transform: none;
That way, I can type Title Case per custom menu label as & when. Simple…
However, when I added the modified code into the child theme’s style.css that CTC created for me, saved then refreshed the browser, the Secondary Menu test item is still UPPERCASE.
Alternatively, I edited the parent theme’s style.css code entry to text-transform: none;, saved, refreshed, & it works. At least the idea is sound!
Not sure whether your stylesheet <link> or @import is required but both sound scary to a non-coder like me. What am I missing here?
Cheers
Brent
