  • Hi, we are using WordPress 3.2.1
we saw the recent Wikipedia banner for their fundraising- like this
    http://i.imgur.com/Vo5jh.png
this banner appears the first time any wiki post is viewed (i.e. its site-wide) and then on subsequent browsings, disappears, so as not to annoy users. So its like a temporary pop up except it is a banner. Does anyone have any leads as to which banner pop ups may do this, or how would we go about programming it. Thanks

Wikipedia doesn’t use WordPress so there isn’t a plugin name for your question.

how would we go about programming it

Perhaps creating cookies for each new user when they visit the site. Then only displaying the banner for new users.

Andrew thank you so much for letting everyone know that Wikipedia doesn’t use WordPress! I was wondering… 😉

    Any better suggestion?
